Antifreeze/Glycol & Solvent Recycling

CER can handle antifreeze, glycol, and solvent waste by collecting contaminated fluids, removing impurities (such as oils, metals, and dirt), and processing them through filtration and distillation systems to recover usable material. This recycling process reduces environmental impact, conserves resources, and ensures safe, compliant waste management

Types of Coolant/Glycol

Antifrezze: Antifreeze is a liquid, usually made from ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, used in engines and cooling systems to regulate temperature. I

Machining Coolant – Machining coolants are typically water-based fluids containing oils, emulsifiers, and additives for lubrication and corrosion protection

Ethylene Glycol (EG)The most common antifreeze used in automotive and industrial cooling systems. It provides excellent heat transfer but is toxic.

Propylene Glycol (PG) – A less toxic alternative to ethylene glycol, often used in food-grade, pharmaceutical, and HVAC applications.

Types of Solvent waste

  • Halogenated Solvents – Contain chlorine, bromine, or fluorine (e.g., degreasing solvents). These are typically more hazardous and require special handling.

  • Non-Halogenated Solvents – Do not contain halogens and are widely used for cleaning, thinning, and extraction (e.g., alcohols, ketones).

  • Paint and Coating Solvents – Used in paints, varnishes, and coatings; often contain mixtures of organic solvents.

  • Cleaning and Degreasing Solvents – Used to remove oils, grease, and contaminants from metal or equipment surfaces.

  • Printing and Ink Solvents – Used in printing operations for ink thinning and equipment cleaning.

  • Laboratory Solvents – Waste solvents generated from testing, research, and chemical analysis.
