We collect EPS from Richmond businesses, construction sites, and packaging operations. Material is inspected, and contaminants\u2014like food residue, tape, and labels\u2014are removed. Most programs accept clean, white EPS only.<\/p>\n
Clean foam goes through an industrial shredder, which cuts it into small flakes or beads for easier handling and downstream processing.<\/p>\n
The shredded EPS is compacted (via heat, pressure, or both) in a densifier, shrinking volume by up to ~98%. The output is dense \u201cbricks\u201d or ingots that are simple and cost-effective to transport.<\/p>\n
These compacted blocks are shipped to certified recycling facilities or manufacturers, where they\u2019re remelted and pelletized into polystyrene resin.<\/p>\n
