Commercial Styrofoam Recycling 

In Richmond, Canadian Empire Recycling offers dedicated bulk collection and recycling services for Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), widely recognized as Styrofoam. Catering to industrial and commercial clients, we handle large quantities typically produced by shipping departments, construction projects, manufacturing operations, and office environments. Our goal is to help businesses manage Styrofoam waste efficiently while reducing environmental impact through responsible recycling practices.

1. Pickup & Pre-Sort
We collect EPS from Richmond businesses, construction sites, and packaging operations. Material is inspected, and contaminants—like food residue, tape, and labels—are removed. Most programs accept clean, white EPS only.

2.  Size Reduction
Clean foam goes through an industrial shredder, which cuts it into small flakes or beads for easier handling and downstream processing.

3. Densification / Compaction
The shredded EPS is compacted (via heat, pressure, or both) in a densifier, shrinking volume by up to ~98%. The output is dense “bricks” or ingots that are simple and cost-effective to transport.

4. Transfer to Reclaimers
These compacted blocks are shipped to certified recycling facilities or manufacturers, where they’re remelted and pelletized into polystyrene resin.

5. Back into New Products
Recycled polystyrene pellets are turned into everyday items such as:

• Picture frames
• Crown/moulding trim
• Park benches and outdoor furnishings
• Insulation boards/panels
• Protective packaging materials
